Frequently Asked Questions

Does this course meet OSHA’s bucket truck operator training requirements?

Yes. The course satisfies OSHA 1910.67 and 1926.453 requirements, as well as ANSI A92.2 standards for vehicle-mounted aerial devices. Employers receive documentation of evaluations to qualify operators.

Is bucket truck training the same as MEWP training?

No. Bucket truck training is specialized for vehicle-mounted aerial lifts, covering inspection, setup with outriggers, and safe operation at height. MEWP training, by contrast, addresses scissor lifts and boom lifts not mounted on vehicles. Employers who use both types of equipment often schedule both courses to ensure full compliance.

Does this course include fall protection training?

Yes. Fall protection is a required part of bucket truck training. Operators are trained in OSHA-required practices, including proper use of harnesses, lanyards, and anchorage while working in a bucket. This ensures compliance without needing a separate fall protection course for basic use.

How often do bucket truck operators need refresher training?

Crane Tech does not designate operators as qualified. We provide bucket truck training and evaluations that employers use to determine qualification. OSHA requires re-evaluation following unsafe operation, incidents, or changes in equipment or workplace conditions. Evaluation results are typically valid for two (2) years.

What documentation do employers receive?

Employers receive certificates, wallet cards, and evaluation records confirming each operator’s qualification, supporting OSHA and insurance compliance
