Frequently Asked Questions

What does OSHA require of MEWP/aerial lift operators?

OSHA requires employers to provide MEWP/aerial lift  operators training and evaluation under 29 CFR 1910.66 and 1910.67. Employers must document that each operator has been trained to recognize hazards, operate the lift safely, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

How often do MEWP/aerial lift operators need refresher training?

Employers are responsible for ensuring MEWP operators remain qualified. Crane Tech provides training and written/practical evaluations that support this process, with evaluation results valid for two (2) years. Refresher training or re-evaluation is required sooner if unsafe operation is observed, an incident occurs, workplace conditions change, or a different lift type is introduced.

Does this training cover both boom lifts and scissor lifts?

Yes. The program addresses both boom-supported and scissor lifts, including their operating characteristics, hazards, and inspection requirements.

Can this training be done on our equipment?

Yes. Crane Tech offers  MEWP training at your facility using your specific aerial lifts, which ensures operators practice with the same equipment and site conditions they’ll face on the job.
