Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course certification or qualification?

This course provides aerial lift inspection training and assessments that employers use to qualify aerial lift inspectors. It does not result in a third-party certification; instead, employers receive documentation they can use to designate inspectors as qualified persons under OSHA and ANSI A92.

It’s qualification training, not certification.

Who should attend the MEWP/Aerial Lift Inspector Training?

This MEWP inspection training course is designed for mechanics, safety personnel, supervisors, and others responsible for inspecting, maintaining, or approving aerial lifts for use. It is also valuable for employers who want documented evidence of inspector training to support OSHA and ANSI compliance.

How often do aerial lifts need to be inspected?

OSHA and ANSI require daily pre-use inspections, frequent inspections based on usage, and a thorough annual inspection by a qualified person.

Does this course cover both boom lifts and scissor lifts?

Yes. Training covers boom-supported, scissor, self-propelled, and manually propelled MEWP/aerial lifts, including their operational characteristics and required inspection points for each type.

Who can perform aerial lift inspections under OSHA/ANSI rules?

Inspections must be conducted by a qualified person—someone with the knowledge, training, and experience to identify hazards and evaluate equipment. This course provides the evidence of training employers need to designate inspectors as qualified for MEWPs.
