Mobile Crane – Operator Development Program - CraneTech

Mobile Crane – Operator Development Program

Looking to launch your career as a crane operator? This program is more than a single course — it’s a complete development pathway. You’ll build solid fundamentals, earn a Rigger Qualification, and prepare for nationally recognized CCO Certification — all at a deep discount compared to taking each course separately.

Is Mobile Crane Operator Development Program the right course for you?

  • You want to start a career as a crane operator or build skills from the ground up.
  • You want a structured program that covers fundamentals, advanced operation, and exam preparation.
  • You want a start-to-finish program that delivers three outcomes in one: professional crane operator training, a Rigger Qualification, and CCO Certification — a bundled path that saves time and money.

After this course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform daily and monthly crane inspections in line with OSHA and ASME requirements.

  • Set up cranes with outriggers, cribbing, and safe ground practices.

  • Identify jobsite hazards and apply safe lifting procedures.

  • Read and apply manufacturer load charts, including complex configurations.

  • Operate hydraulic mobile cranes safely: hoisting, booming, swinging, and traveling with and without loads.

  • Use operator aids such as LMIs, anti-two-block devices, and boom angle indicators.

  • Demonstrate basic rigging knowledge and skills to earn Rigger Qualification.

  • Sit for CCO written and practical exams with confidence, leaving with nationally recognized certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience to enroll?

No. This program is designed for beginners and those entering the crane industry. Training starts with fundamentals and builds week by week until you’re prepared for CCO exams.

What can I expect during the Operator Development program?

The program starts with the basics—safety, inspections, and rigging—then builds to advanced crane operation and load chart applications. Hands-on practice is included throughout, with guided exercises that increase in complexity each week. In the final week, you’ll complete written and practical exams for CCO certification. Participants who choose the optional fourth week will also prepare for and test on lattice boom cranes.

How is this different from the 4-day Mobile Crane Operator course?

The 4-day Mobile Crane Operator course is intended for experienced operators seeking qualification or certification prep training. The 3–4 week Operator Development program is designed for new or less experienced operators and provides the extended time, hands-on practice, and structured preparation needed to earn CCO certification.

Does the program include CCO certification exams?

Yes. CCO written and practical exams are administered during the course. Successful candidates earn nationally recognized CCO certification.

Why choose the Operator Development program instead of separate courses?

Because it delivers the value of three courses in one. By combining crane fundamentals, Rigger Qualification, and CCO Certification into one program, you save significantly compared to enrolling in each separately. More importantly, you leave not just trained, but fully qualified, certified, and ready to begin your career.

How long is CCO certification valid?

CCO certification is valid for five years. Recertification requires retesting as set by CCO requirements.
